Welcome to Ballou Home for the Aged
Living Life to the Fullest!
At BallouLife Communities, we believe that our older adults should lead a purposeful life. We accomplish this in many ways. Our Life Enrichment department schedules various activities that involve individuals at all stages of life, considering individual strengths and limitations. Our dining experience is a time for socializing with friends and enjoying exquisite and nutritious cuisine. Our nicely appointed chapel is a wonderful place for spiritual growth, to worship, reflect, and praise. Our impeccably kept, gardens with benches and gazebo serve as a perfect respite with family and friends. Other services that help our older adults live a full life include a library, hair salon, internet café with visual assistive technology, and transportation to medical appointments.

What Drives Us
To provide exceptional person-centered care for our residents and their families, while promoting quality of life, and embracing the dignity of each individual in a safe, nurturing, and respectful community.
Ballou Home for the Aged is a century-old skilled nursing facility and rehabilitation center. Its 43-bed facility gives it its uniqueness. Because we are small, we can give personal care to each resident. The Home is set atop a hill in Woonsocket, surrounded by plush and well-kept gardens. Numerous resident activities abound, all supporting our belief that persons of all ages should lead a purposeful life. Our signature programs are those that involve the arts. Evidence has shown that activities in the arts among older adults have a profound effect on their well-being.
Ballou Home for the Aged is a duly incorporated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, operated by a board of directors who sets policy and an Executive Director and staff that is responsible for the day to day operations of the Home. Ballou Home is licensed by the Rhode Island Department of Health and operates within the regulations set by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). It accepts Medicaid, Medicare, private pay, and other third-party insurances.
Support BallouLife Communities
Donations are very important and very much appreciated as the gap widens between third party payments and the real cost of caring for an older adult. Any amount, large or small, is graciously accepted.
Volunteers are needed in a variety of areas. Do you have a hobby that you’d like to share with older adults? Or, do you just want to “chat” with a resident? Your “companionship” will be very much appreciated.
